Vogel's Pit Viper (Trimeresurus vogeli) haunts the mossy cloud forests of northern Thailand, including Doi Inthanon, as a strictly nocturnal ambush predator. This green hemotoxic species needs cool, exceptionally humid conditions with a 26 degree ceiling, settling well once established. A genuinely rewarding montane viper for committed, advanced keepers prepared to manage strict temperatures.

Habitat
Arboreal. Montane cloud forest, mossy forest and highland bamboo, 500 – 1,800 m. Northern Thailand — Doi Inthanon, Doi Suthep, Chiang Rai highlands.
Wild Diet
Frogs, lizards, small birds & small mammals. Strict nocturnal ambush predator.

Pre-killed mice or frogs. Juveniles every 7 days; adults every 10 – 14 days.

20 – 24 °C ambient — 18 °C cool end

80 – 95 %. Daily misting; cloud forest humidity essential.

Low (nocturnal). UVI 0 – 1.0. Low-level UVB beneficial.
Enclosure
Arboreal / vertical. Min 60 × 60 × 90 cm. Cool, humid setup — moss substrate recommended.
Temperament
