Wirot's Pit Viper (Craspedocephalus wirotii) is a rare, poorly studied arboreal serpent confined to the evergreen hill forests of the Thai-Malay peninsula. A nocturnal ambush hunter carrying hemotoxic venom, it is best kept with minimal disturbance owing to its scarcity. A genuine collector's species for the most experienced and conscientious advanced keepers only.

In the Wild

Habitat
Arboreal. Lowland and hill evergreen forest, 0 – 600 m. Restricted to the Thai-Malay peninsula, known from Surat Thani and Nakhon Si Thammarat provinces.
Wild Diet
Lizards, frogs & small mammals. Nocturnal arboreal ambush predator.

Pre-killed mice or frogs. Juveniles every 7 days; adults every 10 – 14 days.

26 – 30 °C ambient — 24 °C cool end
Humidity
75 – 90 %. Daily misting.
UV Requirements
Low (nocturnal). UVI 0 – 1.0.
Enclosure
Arboreal / vertical. Min 60 × 60 × 90 cm. Rare species — minimise stress.

Defensive. Rare and poorly studied — handle with minimal frequency.
