The Gold-ringed Cat Snake (Boiga dendrophila gemmicincta) is a jet-black serpent banded with brilliant yellow rings, advertising itself with vivid warning colouration in extreme southern Thailand. Large and arboreal with a strong feeding response, it hunts birds, bats and lizards, growing defensive when disturbed. Rear-fanged yet visually stunning, it is a showpiece for experienced keepers.

In the Wild

Habitat
Arboreal. Coastal lowland forest, mangrove fringes and tropical forest near water. 0 – 400 m. Extreme southern Thailand.
Wild Diet
Lizards, birds, bats & small mammals. Striking jet-black body with bright yellow rings — highly visible warning colouration.

Pre-killed mice or rats. Adults every 7 – 10 days. Strong feeding response.

26 – 30 °C ambient — 24 °C cool end

75 – 90 %. Daily misting.

Large arboreal. Min 120 × 60 × 120 cm. Strong branches to support body weight.
