Dog-toothed Cat Snake For Sale

Boiga cynodon

The Dog-toothed Cat Snake (Boiga cynodon) is a large, powerful arboreal species of southern Thai forests, named for the enlarged front teeth that pierce birds, bats and small mammals. Reaching up to 250 centimetres and inclined to be aggressive, it is best worked with a hook. Rear-fanged but a commanding species for experienced keepers.

In the Wild

Habitat
Arboreal. Primary and secondary lowland tropical forest, forest edges and plantations. 0 – 600 m. Southern Thailand and the Thai-Malay peninsula.
Wild Diet
Birds, bats, lizards & small mammals. Large, powerful species capable of taking substantial prey.

Captive Diet
Pre-killed mice or rats. Adults every 7 – 10 days.
Temperature
26 – 30 °C ambient — 24 °C cool end
Humidity
70 – 85 %. Misting 3 – 4× per week.
UV Requirements
Low (nocturnal). UVI 0 – 1.0.
Enclosure
Large arboreal. Min 120 × 60 × 120 cm for adults. Very large species — space accordingly.
Temperament
Can be aggressive. Named for enlarged front teeth (dog tooth). Hook use recommended.
